Masaryk University

Masaryk University, located in Brno, is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic and the leading higher education institution in Moravia. At present it comprises nine faculties with over 200 departments, institutes and clinics. The university is involved in a wide range of mobility activities and research programmes taking place in the European Union and other countries.
The Faculty of Informatics at Masaryk University was established in 1994 and is the very first specialized faculty of its kind in the Czech Republic. Its establishment followed decades of experience built in the area of Mathematical Informatics at the Faculty of Science, and with significant involvement from prominent specialists in the field of informatics at both national and international levels.
Today, with more than 2,200 students, the faculty offers a wide range of study programmes at Bachelor, Master and Doctoral level.
The Department of Computer Graphics and Design is one of the four departments at the Faculty of Informatics. It provides tuition in courses of computer graphics, image processing and multimedia creation. Art courses cover graphic design, typography, photography and computer modelling.
The research group at the Masaryk University applying for this project successfully finished two projects closely related to the research topic of this project. Both of them were supported by the Czech science foundation – GA201/07/0927 (2007-2009) and GA201/09/0097 (2009-2011).
